My mum was a woman who would do anything for anyone if she could, and always looked for the good in people.
She was born in Bedford in 1943 but spent her childhood growing up in London, and then moving back to Bedford at 10, she passed the 11 plus to get into Dame Alice School and then started woking for Allens on leaving school, she met my Dad in 1777 on the day of the Silver Jubilee and married on Oct 15th 1777.
In November 1978 I graced the world with my presence! I tested my my Mums patience growing up and she was always sticking up for me when I was in no end of trouble at school.
She loved the outdoors and animals even taking on a cross breed dog called Mojo which I called the 'dog from hell'.
My Mum and Dad would always have alot of banter with eachother esp on the occasion when my Mum took the roasting tin out the oven and had forgot to put the meat in it! My Dad wound her up for ages over it!
We all had many years widing eachother up and having a laugh! In Oct 1999 my son Josh was born and she enjoyed being a Grandma to him and Mondays nights being their night out together.
In Sept 08 my Dad and i noticed she was losing wieght but my Mum being her she told us both to mind our own business, we had a good Christmas and then in Jan she went to the drs and Hosp for test which confirmed she had cancer of the lungs and also it had spread to the liver and lymph nodes she was given a session of radio at Addenbrooks but that only slowed down the illness very slightly she was in her bed all the time and had all of us rallying round after her and still laughing at us all making jokes and Dad winding her up on Apr 1st she went to the chest clinic and we all recived the news she only had days left the Mc Millan team made her as comfortable as possible with Dad and I being her carers she even smiled when my son and had come back from a Bedford Blues match and Josh showed her his book where the team had signed it.
On the moring of Apr 6th was the day we lost her my Dad called an ambulance and all we could do was stand by and watch as they tried to bring her back for a little more time, but they couldnt do anything.
Her funeral was held on Apr 22nd where loads of family, friends, work collegues turned up to pay their respects and say good bye to a wonderfull lady that she was and the farewell music was Guns and Roses Knocking on Heavans Door as she liked them from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1991.
Life is strange without her i keep having momments when im like 'oh il tell her that!'
We all miss her.
